Intersex babies are babies that are born with a birth defect of unfinished genitalia and do not have a determined sex at birth (pp. 50). However, many doctors like to stay away from the term hermaphrodite, which means an organism with reproductive organs for both sexes, mainly because this may give the parents the impression that their child"s sex is not known. Since most intersexuals fall into the pseudo category, doctors believe that an intersexual child is really a boy or girl (pp. 50). A normal boy may be born with a penis, has one x and one y chromosome, two testes, scrotal sacs, and a variety of tubing which transports sperm and other components of the seminal fluid to the outside world.
