Expectation/assumption is recent development of healthier lives today. Cleaner water, air, and food; safe disposal of sewage, better nutrition, etc. Public health can be referred to two different yet related concepts. The general state of people"s health and the measures people in society take to bring about and maintain improvement. Public health has had many successes; highly effective in reducing threat of infectious diseases, increasing the avg lifespan of americans. In 1980s, public health taken for granted and money spent on medical care, with new diseases such as aids plus environmental concerns. Wasn"t thought of as public health problems. Study conducted by institute of medicine called the future of public health refocused attention on importance of public health. Mission - the fulfillment of society"s interest in assuring the conditions in which people can be healthy .
