What you write can influence decisions, help form public opinions of people and contribute to general attitude of your readers. Get a fact wrong, misspell a name, or omit a vital piece of information and you are no longer credible. Once credibility is gone, a news organization is finished (cid:2) (cid:2) (cid:2) (cid:2) (cid:2) (cid:2: clarity. Give news quickly, concisely, and without extra words. Write short sentences, short paragraphs, short stories. They can entertain, inspire, anger and educate: the four key elements that should be present in the first five paragraphs. Impact: what a situation means and who is affected.
