Document Summary
Matriarchal societies and examples in china - summarizing and taking notes on a recent study. Breaks into 4 subsections - cultural - political - social - and economic. Matriarchy is a society where women are ruling. On an economic standpoint, matriarchal societies are prosperous. Matrilineality - kinship, clan names, etc are all passed through the female lines. Matriclans - the women live in these houses permanently and they dont leave. They are self supporting and they connect to other clans through marriage. The men don"t leave either, it is called a visiting marriage - the men can spend the night with the women but have to leave in the morning. Due to there not being a question of who is the mother the female passes down all her wealth to her children. Within a clan house everyone in the house get together to make decisions.
