Rough er (have ribosomes) & smooth er (no ribosomes) Rough er: protein synthesis; protein produced more complicated (glycoproteins, sugar attached) than those from free ribosomes. Receives protein from rough er, modifies them & ship them in vesicles. Sorting: as different proteins move through folds, they are sorted out & transported separately.
