Document Summary
Matter: anything that takes up space and has mass. Liquid: fluid and takes shape of container, forms flat or slightly curved upper surface when acted upon by gravity. In zero gravity liquids assume a spherical shape. Solids and liquids volume are independent of pressure. Plasma: gaseous state or matter that contains appreciable numbers of electrically charged particles. Presence of charged particles give unique properties. Found in high-temperature environments manmade (some tv screens) and natural (lightning) Some matter can appear to have properties of more than one state due to its composition of many small pieces or if it"s a mixture. Mass: measure of amount of matter in it. Measured by force required to accelerate object or a balance. Weight changes with the change of force of gravity: mass does not. Law of conservation of matter: the quantity of matter does not change while a chemical or physical change occurs.
