Interpersonal relationships, the interconnections and interdependence between communicators. Interpersonal communication is the exchange of verbal and nonverbal messages between people who build relationships, share meanings, and accomplish social goals. Every person has a complex relational network or web of relationships that connects individuals to one another. In this section, we focus on family relationships, friendships and social relationships, and romantic partnerships, as well as online relationships. A family is a small social group bound by ties of blood, civil contract (such as marriage, civil union, or adoption), and a commitment to care for and be responsible for one another, often in a shared household. First and most basic relationships, they teach their children the beliefs, values, a(cid:374)d (cid:272)o(cid:373)(cid:373)u(cid:374)i(cid:272)atio(cid:374) skills they (cid:374)eed to fa(cid:272)e life"s (cid:272)halle(cid:374)ges, to feel loved and secure, and to achieve success both professionally and personally. Friendship is a close and caring relationship between two people that is perceived as mutually satisfying and beneficial.
