Document Summary

Heat is kinetic energy, the kinetic energy of the molecules. As the molecules are shaking back and forth faster. Each atom in the periodic table is associated with an atomic number. Brownian motion: the shaking of tiny bits of floating dust. The shaking comes from the dust being hit on all sides by air molecules. The speed of sound and the speed of light. Speed of molecules is approximately the speed of sound. Sound travels through air by molecules bumping into each other. The speed of sound is determined by the speed of molecular motion. The average speed of the molecules composed of the textbook is the speed of sound, but they are all moving in random directions. When kinetic energy is turned into heat, the regular motion becomes randomized. The molecular changes goes from order to disorder. When an object is heated, its entropy increases.
