Gustation: taste, directly, chemically sample our world, no other sense, except olfaction, does this. Sends signals to the more cognitive part of neurons in the nose the neocortex where they are registered into awareness. Blindsight: reacting to stimuli without even being aware of them, respond to certain visual inputs without being aware of it, even when they are technically blind, report not seeing objects, but can avoid obstacles. Thalamus: every sense (except olfaction) passes through here just before entering neocortex for more processing, helps modulate sensory input before input enters awareness. Vomeronasal organ: little cavity inside the nostril where there are receptors, receptors highly responsive to pheromones. Pheromones: chemical messengers used by pants or animals to communicate or alter behavior, many kinds that affect sexual selection and mating, increase aggression, or even modify social interactions (in animals) Ventral premotor cortex motor planning area of the brain: mirror neurons.
