Introduction: 22% of women ages 18-90 report having been sexually assaulted, the average woman has a 1 in 10 change of being raped, the majority of women know their rapists. In intra-racial rapes, offenders are generally somewhat older than their victims. In interracial rapes, black offenders tend to be younger than their white victims: many involve the commission of burglary or robbery in addition to rape. Influence of sexist society: rape is an added bonus to property crime. Planning and execution: most rapes involve acquaintances, friends, or lovers, planning often includes using sweet talk, romantic moves, alcohol, or other means to induce women into having sex. Consequences of rape: rape is more likely to be a continuing process, in which the survivor continues to suffer after the rape is over.
