Sit-in greensboro inspired conference at shaw university, north carolina. Congress of racial equality tested 1946 ruling of racial segregation on buses and trains. Boynton v virginia-extended 1946 ruling outlawing segregated terminals and stations, largely ignored by the south. Core volunteers moved into the south to facilitate integration stations, but were attacked in deep south (called freedom rides) Eugene bull connor was symbol for racism.
