Interpersonal conflict- disagreement between or among contacted individuals who perceive their goals as incompatible. Are mutually aware that their goals are incompatible. Perceive each other as interfering with the attainment of their goals. Intimacy issues- affection or sex dealing (cid:1445)baby issues(cid:1446) Power issues- friends may way or the highway . Social allergen- personal habit of a friend or romantic partner that you find annoying or inconsiderate. Can lead you to close yourself off. Forces you to examine the problem and work it out. Collectivist cultures-(ecuador, indonesia, korea)- conflicts most often involve violations of a larger group and values. Individualistic cultures- (u. s)- more likely to occur when people violate expected norms. Men are more likely to withdraw from conflict. Competing style- involves great concern for your own needs/ values and little on others, can build resentment (i win, you lose) Accommodating style- you sacrifice your own needs for the other person (i lose, you win); eventually sense unfairness/ develop resentment.
