Group building and maintenance roles- nourish the interpersonal relationships of the group. Encourage or harmonizer-provides members with positive reinforcement through praise for ideas. Compromiser-tries to resolve conflict between their ideas/ other ideas in the group. Those are really good ideas; we"re on a roll . Standard-setter- proposes standards for the functions of the group/ and its solutions. Individual roles- hinder the group from achieving it"s goal; not group oriented. It doesn"t make any sense attacks the group. Recognition seekers and self confessors- focus on putting attention onto themselves rather than the group goal. Blocker- provides negative feedback, opposes every idea regardless of its merit.
