Mortality rates: proportion of people in population who die over a length of time, age adjusted controls for differences of age distributions in communities. 2 leading cause of death for men and women: heart disease, cancer. When you break things up within race and ethnicities the differences are very striking. Age 1-44 leading cause of death: unintentional injuries, other. Infant mortality primary causes: low birth weight, premature births, baby born at less than 37 weeks. Infant mortality is much higher in black non hispanics compared to other races. Those that occur before the age of 75. Most important causes of premature death are: cancer, accidental injury, heart disease, suicide. Life expectancy rates: predicts the probable number of years a person may live. Life expectancy in the us has dropped from 2014-2015. Activities of daily living: used to assess disabilities and the level of assistance needed.
