An ongoing interaction of politics and ideas determines crime policies in america, crime policy making because more politicized with leaders promoting ideas that followed their ideologies. As a result the age of reagan public concerns and resources were pushed towards counterproductive areas consequences for controlling the types of crimes that do the most harm to the most people. The politics of reagan treated financial crimes more like misdemeanors, wrongly touting the financial sector as self-controlled and self corrected.
