Advantages of working in teams: having more information, stimulating creativity, a system of checks, engaging in a better decision making process, motivation. Social loafing: occurs when a team member slacks off because he knows the work will get done regardless of his effort. Climate: the function of the relationships within it, the overall feel of the group. Consensus: a decision making method that pursues agreement among most team members while thoroughly resolving objections along the way. Groupthink: coming to a conclusion without critical thinking or evaluation of enough alternatives. Confirming response: response that shows you care about the person and value what they have to say. Dialectic: tension between two opposing but valuable preferences. Transactional leaders: offer their followers concrete exchanges (money, grades, power) to participate. Authoritarian leadership: head of the group has the ultimate say.
