Mi is a particular kind of conversation about change. An approach to helping people who are ambivalent about any kind of decision or area of their life: making a change in substance use or health behavior, changes in relationships, changes in how they deal with life. Mi is collaborative person-centered, a partnership, honors autonomy, not expert-recipient. About inspiring people to change, respecting them and looking up to them in such a way they remember to look up to themselves. Mi is evocative it seeks to call forth the person"s on motivation and commitment. It sets a different relationships with the client from the start of. It allows you to develop a relationship with the client whereby you"re not the expert, you"re not trying to say i know what"s wrong with you and here"s the solution, you"re trying to figure out something as peers. The practitioner becomes a secondary player that is nudging the process along.
