Involves a set of relational social practices. These practices occur among people, objects, and technologies. Is a multimodal [several different modes] activity. Elements that come into play when we look. Other images with which they are displayed. Institutions & social contexts in which we engage in looking. Whether one looks in private or public. Whether the image is personal, context specific, or public. Interpellation: to interrupt a procedure in order to question someone or something formally, as in a legal/gov setting.
