Human welfare depends on success adapting to biophysical and human social environment. A human population is considered a society to the degree it"s politically autonomous and its members engage in a broad range of cooperative behaviors. Rlb: humans are primates (like apes and monkeys) Our closest relatives are bonobos and chimpanzees. More peaceful, use sexual contact to create peace. Human societies are so varies because common genetic heritage allows them to develop very different cultural heritages. Without symbolic cultures we would all be alike.
