Class: economics: groupings of people who share roughly similar incomes and wealth, similar occupations, and similar levels of education, for the vast majority of people, income, occurpation, and education coincide, socioeconomic status (ses) Most americans are unaware of how class has an impact on their lives and how other classes conflict; they have low consciousness: americans do pay close attention to race and inequality though. The upper class: most of the income comes from bonds, investments, property, etc, aka the capitalist class / the top 1, assets over occupations. Income primarily based on occupation: people whose skills & expertise are critical to the functioning of the society"s major institutions; they influence us, some income from investments, highly esteemed in society. The lower middle class: most diverse of the classes, middle managers, semiprofessionals, police, government employees, many are conservative believe strongly in american ideology. Incomes are expected to be close to the society"s median.
