Almost 30% chance one will suffer from a psychiatric disorder in. Creates the idea that everyone else is happy except you which only adds to more unhappiness. Myth 2: if you"re not happy, you"re defective. Western society often plays mental suffering off as abnormal and if you feel it something is wrong with you. Leads to self criticizing for a completely normal feeling. Acceptance and commitment therapy (act) will teach you not to ignore your suffering but how to manage it more effectively and improve your life. Myth 3: to create a better life, we must get rid of negative feelings. A person must be prepared for uncomfortable feelings and how to deal with them instead of trying the impossible task of never having any.
