Document Summary
Throughout this section i learned numerous and broad spanning ideas that i have not yet discovered in any other class. Currently, i discovered how to ease awkward conversations. Particularly, within the lab we were challenged to talk to strangers and try and get them to open up about who they are and where they find meaning. This however is no easy feat and the conversations always began as awkward and disjointed. I realized though that people enjoy talking about themselves. In showing interest in what people had to say, it allowed for the conversations to morph into something that was more friendly and lighthearted. Further, it pushed the strangers to be more open and to dig deeper. As well, in this section i had the revelation that empathy is really an action and not something innate, like sympathy. Additionally, i learned that i was wrong in my preconception that hard work speaks for itself.
