More soldiers die due to disease as well as civilians, than from war wounds. Biggest clear in wwi > in uenza (not any one country per say) - 1918. 60% soldier were dying from disease and not from combat. Believed it may have been lack of food, or issues with malnutrition, overcrowding. But it was actually sanitation issues, very unhygenic conditions coupled with overcrowding. If we look at the early months, we see that there is a much greater proportion of people dying from diseases. British come in to assist with the sanitation: remove dead animal carcasses, xing or installing sewage systems, improving ventilation in hospitals, repairing housing conditions, structurally sound but aren"t allowing in a lot of pests.
