Maybe good for economy or national focus but on the general it is not a good thing, lots of death and destruction. Military campaigns dominated by epidemics since ancient times. In almost every war up to and including wwi, more soldiers have died from disease than from combat or weapons. Even in wwwi the biggest killer of all was not the germans, or the british, or the russians, nor all three combined- but influenza. Kills civilians and then they spread the disease. Realized that 60% of soldiers were dying from disease, not combat. Could have been lack of food or issues with malnutrition and crowding. What changes in 1855- british come in to assist with sanitation. This made the number of deaths from disease go down enormously, goes from about 52% death from disease to about 20% Started in june, napoleon decided to invade russia and starts marching on.
