Narratives
- Men are less likely to open up rather than women
- Those who are hostile can benefit more from writing
- We are a generation thats been so commercialized that some intrinsic values might
be numb to us, we do not exercise empathy to its fullest
- empathy is important variable in our lives, it has to be learned (you can unlearn it)
- there is room for in school curriculum to be taught to make better society
- When people have traumas that we live through, it helps facilitate them to a better
health and wellbeing
- we see that the longer time the studies of medical narratives go on to individuals that
suffer the trauma, the greater the health benefits use
- If you have a visible stigma vs invisible stigma, the way you should respond with your
narratives are two different ways
- if you have visible stigma (you are scarred, going blind etc), if these people are going
to write their narratives, the best thing to do is writing about being a member of this
community rather than someone that is scarred/disabled
- Even though they have this visible scare or challenge, this becomes a very helpful
thing regards to their wellbeing
- becomes a very positive thing
- For those who may have invisible scares (ie. homosexuality, kept as a secret in fear
of stigmatization), invisible challenge, it is a benefit for them to write a journal with
their group (ie. discuss with others suffering from same fear) theres a camaraderie
- The two cohorts (visible and invisible) the benefits outweigh the great weight of
carrying that challenge
