MEDRADSC 2BB3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Spatial Filter, Edge Enhancement, Image Noise
Document Summary
Black/white inversion: the signal intensity, aka. brightness mapping may be reversed to generate a negative image, this requires a reversal of signal --> brightness mapping where the high intensity signals are black and low intensity signals are white. What do they do: they develop a new matrix of values by mathematically processing a pixel and some of its neighbours in the same matrix, can enhance edges (edge enhancement) or suppress them (smoothing, different than temporal filtering! Temporal filters: modify image matrix by taking into account additional matrices. Involves: smoothing the image, subtraction of data to demonstrate contrast media. Relating to time: modifies image matrix by taking into account additional matrices or a sequence of images. Involves: time domain filtering uses a sequence of images obtained over time to produce the processed image, each set of pixels in an image series represents the same spatial location, sampled at different times. Eg. subtraction of data to demonstrate contrast media in dsa.
