Deviance: atypical thoughts and behaviours, people with psychological disorders deviate in some was from the typical thoughts and behaviours of others. Distress: intense negative feelings due to their behaviour or feelings, free of distress does not always indicate psychological health though, i. e. mania. Dysfunction: when behaviour interferes with daily functioning, described as maladaptive. Danger: either to oneself or others, violence/drug addiction etc. Committee met to come to consensus on disorders. Some controversies arose surrounding: autism spectrum, expanded adhd, binge eating disorder. Removed bereavement clause - person cannot be diagnosed with depression if a loved one has died recently. Clinically significant disturbance in cognition, emotional regulation, or behaviour that reflects a dysfunction in the psychological, biological, or developmental processes underlying mental function. Usually associated with significant distress or disability in a person"s day to day life, social function, and work/school function.
