Examples: gretzky: very suppositious, order in which he dressed himself was the same, drink the same drink before a game, albas & albas (1989) study: interested in student stress, engage in superstitious events before taking a test. Cultural universals i. e bodily adornment, sports, gift giving, social intuitions (family) Appears to exist across all cultures but differs through cultures. Social norms; accepted ways of doing things. Cultural relativism: all cultural practices have equal value. Ex: gelato; keeping kids up at night for gelato is neither ethno or cultural relativism. everyone has their own ways of parenting. A gap exists between what we say and what we do (ideology and action)
