Society is grounded upon inequality and competition. Power is the core of all social relationships. Scarce resources eg. jobs, education, there"s a lack of balance of power. Jewish-lower class background exposed him to discrimination which sparked his desire. Karl marx 1818 - 1883 for social study and change. Shift of industrialization gave birth to capitalism. Called the debate between two oppositions is dialectic. In the marxian view, the dialectic is the battle between two classes. Consciousness can never be anything else than conscious existence, and the existence of men is their actual life-process (marx and engels 1846/1978:154) Marx claims that the position we are born into is the class we will be in. People at the top of social class make up the rules. Once people realize class consciousness, they will revolutionize and come together to make social change. Base: materials and economic foundation for society.
