Principle: joint responsibility between workers and employers. Goal: minimize work related accidents and illnesses. Take every precaution to ensure the health and safety of workers. Speci c duties include: ling government accident reports, maintaining records, ensuring that safety rules are enforced, and posting safety notices/legislative info. Take reasonable care to protect their own health and safety and that of their co-workers. Includes wearing protective clothing/equipment and reporting contravention of the law. (1) to know about workplace safety hazards. (2) to participate in the ohs process. Ensure that workers comply with occupational health and safety regulations. Safety minded managers must aim to install in their workers the desire to work safely. Management and labour can work together to ensure a safe and healthy workplace. Usually consist of between 2 and 12 members. At least half of whom represent workers. In small workplaces one health and safety representative may be required. Penalties consists of nes and/or jail terms.
