People are driven to nd meaning in ambiguity. Cold reading - when they give you ambiguous statements. (hot readings) - when psychics google search you and nd out about you etc. We all have a sense of ourselves. Sometimes we de ne out self by how we de ne others. We always think we"re the normal one. Objective (not subjective) scienti c methods and measures: theory is systematic. Logical and coherent: theory that is testable. There are in nite personalities ( must be falsi able) You are born with your personality already set in stone: theory that is comprehensive. Should address all psychologically signi cant aspects of persons (ie. biological, environmental: application : convert data based theory into practical application. Pragmatism - whats the theory"s utility in the real world . We might say, that person has a great personality . Personality does not equal charisma or charming in personality theory.
