We concentrate on simple linear regression and correlation, we look at linear relationship between two variables (x and y) Simple linear regression analysis looks at the functional relationship between an independent (or explanatory or predictor) variable x and a dependent (or response) variable y. Correlation analysis looks at the strength of the linear association between two random variables, x and y. More highly correlated observations hug the line closer.
