Nonmaterial culture: ideas created by members of a society (ex; canadian constitution) Material culture: physical things created by members of a society (ex; beavertail doughnuts) For travellers, they often experience culture shock (personal disorientation when experiencing an unfamiliar way of life), or when traveller inflicts on others by acting in ways that might offend them. Only humans rely on culture rather than on instinct (which animals do) to create a way of life and to ensure survival. Nation: used to refer to a political entity, also refers to a people who share a culture, ancestry, and history. State: political entity in a territory with designated borders. Society: organized interaction of people who share a culture.
