Divorced families add 2 or 3 phases to the life cycle. Separation, perhaps remarriage, stabilization into a new family pattern. Deviation may not be the best term, especially since it"s more common now. Divorce is not uniform and should not be oversimplified. In practice, the divorce experience is quite diverse for couple and their families. Come confederation, anyone living in a province without a divorce court could submit a private member"s bill to parliament. If it passed, divorce granted (e. g. for a man my wife committed adultery, for a woman my husband committed adultery and deserted me)
