Men tend to choose more lethal means. For individuals aged 10-24 years it is the 2nd leading cause of death but this is probably because young people aren"t dying of other things. In first nations men the risk is 5-6x more than other populations in canada. Risk factors (based on data of those who complete and attempt suicide) Predisposing factors: things that make an individual more likely to commit suicide.
