Document Summary

Social psychology will consider human behaviour in the presence of other humans or other factors. Humans tend to conform when they"re in groups. This experiment shows how people conform when in groups. In this experiment, there are a few confederates lined up along with one real subject. They must all determine the length of a line by comparing it to three other lines. The confederates say their answer first and the subject says it later. As the confederates pick the wrong answer, the subject does as well to fit in. In this experiment, confederates entered an elevator and then a subject walked in. All the confederates were facing towards the back of the elevator so the subject turns around too. Whichever direction the confederates turned, the subject would turn as well. He conducted a study in 1963, in which a subject comes in and sees a confederate but thinks it is another subject.
