Document Summary
Religion is a concept that is very slippery. it"s meaning can really slip away from us. In latin, religion was described as a way to please the gods. Often missionaries who were trying to spread christianity said that they were trying to bring religion" to the native populations, but it is not accepted that natives actually had a religion. To know if there would ever be a society without religion, then we need to focus on what religion actually means. Religion: a link beyond reality (to the real) The main goal is not to judge or to establish truth or falsehood. We are not saying that one religion is true/good or not or the one is more supported than the others. Religion is not like science, it is not a substitute. Recognize the nature and role of a religion in its cultural and social context. Discover what religion might mean in a universal setting.
