Document Summary
Deliver good things and remove bad things. Cooling moves heat from the body core to the body surface. Two pumps are connected in series (in a closed system) Pulmonary circuit (right side of the heart to the lungs; then to the left side) Systemic circuit (left side of the heart feeds the blood to the rest of the body) Requires a much stronger and forceful pump than the pulmonary circuit. Ie. the left side of the heart needs to withstand much higher pressure. Both the left and right side of the heart needs to work equally efficiently. The circulatory system is a closed system if this wasn"t the case, there would be a fluid imbalance (and fluid would be stuck ) Pericardium double-walled fluid-filled sac that the heart sits in; prevents infection and provides lubrication. Inflammation in the pericardium we can feel this friction (pericarditis)
