The study of the other" and the suffering are very similar. Saying suffering is universal so you"re getting away from culture. The west needed the savage to understand themselves. A shift in talking about trauma as something similar that everyone experiences. Dark anthropology is the study of power and inequality. He stays that neoliberalism is the root of the darkness in the world. Then anthropologists started researching this around 1980s cause it was important. Then writes about the good and that its bene cial writing this way but dark anthropology does more than looking at world problems and marginalization. How communities resist things and it should be studied.
