Muscle contraction is caused by the interaction of thin and thick myofilaments thin myofilament contain mostly protein called actin along the tropinin and tropomyosin thick myofilament contain the protein myosin. Structure of a skeletal muscle the whole muscle is composed of groups of fasciculi surrounded by white connective tissue called perimysium. Each fascicle is made up of bundles of myofibrils these myofibrils are composed of two types of myofilaments.
