Document Summary
James - stream of consciousness (consciousness is fluid - ever moving and changing) No one can directly experience your reality, you cant see theirs. Drift in and out of various states of consciousness (sleeping/very alert, daydreaming, deep in thought) Central to sense of self mind aware of its own consciousness. Unlimited possibilities (focus on some stimuli in expense of others) Every state is part of a personal consciousness. Within each personal consciousness states are always changing. Even where there is a time gap the consciousness after it feels as if it belonged together with the consciousness before it, as another part of the same self. The changes from one moment to another in the quality of the consciousness are never absolutely abrupt. Consciousness is interested in some parts of its object to the exclusion of others and welcomes or rejects - chooses from among them.
