We prefer the best but choose similar attractiveness not erratically different. Seems to hold in lab and many real-world settings. More breakups and one is always worried about the other one. Social influence non-conformity a) independence b) anti-conformity: independence you do what you want, anti conformity you do the exact opposite of what the group wants, don"t want to satisfy the group. Models: our behaviour may be shaped by models, even in absence of direct intentional influence.
