Psychological disorders found in the dsm five: anxiety disorders: Phobic disorders: ocd and ptsd (used to be classified as anxiety disorders, but they are not anymore, somatic symptom disorders: dissociative disorders. Dissociative identity disorder (multiple personality disorder: mood disorders. Characterized by disturbance in mood (affect) rather than thought. Unipolar or major depression: patient experiences on the despair of depression, 10% of all men, 20% of all women. No inhibitions nothing can hold them back. Insomnia constantly talking, no inhibitions, can"t sleep. Major depression: polar opposite to mania, patient appears utterly dejected, hopeless, worthless, may be hallucinations or delusions in severe case, loss of appetite, sleep disturbance/fatigue, little, if any, interest in sex, contemplating suicide. Men have substantially higher suicide rates compared to women"s. Men tend to use violence to commit suicide, women tend to use medication. Risk of suicide low while patient is in the worst depression. The risk increases as the patient comes out of the depression.
