KP200 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Monowheel, Macrocycle, Overtraining
Document Summary
Foundation of an athletes training plan to improve skills and performance (not linear) Training is divided into smaller, eat-to manage segments that are typically referred to as phases of training. A sequential approach is necessary because it is not possible to maintain an athletes physiological and psychological abilities at max capacity throughout entire year. Divided into 3 main phases: preparatory (3-6 months) physical, technical and psychological foundation for performance established. General: develop development of general physical preparation (technical skills, tactics, mental skills) Specific: develop characteristics needed for a sport by using sport-specific (e. g. speed & endurance) Emphasis from physical development to competition: competitive performance capacity is maximized so athlete is able to compete successfully in main competitions; takes 7-10 competitions to achieve the highest performance results; stress evaluated. Precompetitive: unofficial games (exhibitions) that test elements of physical, technical, tactical and psychological training in order to prepare for later events. Allowing for superior performances at the main contests.
