Document Summary
Can seriously affect your body because it is enhancing that fight or flight response. Strokes because your blood vessels are being constricted. That crash that they experience when they come down can suppress their respiratory system to the point where they stop breathing. Psychoactive drug inhibits the release of the neurotransmitter e. g. alcohol. Suppresses everything you just become less functional. Ethanol is a by-product of the process of fermentation by yeast. Alcohol effects all of the synapses within your brain but works on certain pathways first, usually inhibitory pathway. Followed by loss of fine motor control, concentration, balance and coordination. Excessive amounts can lead to passing out or even coma. More likely to do things that you wouldn"t normally do. 95% of the alcohol you consume must be broken down by your liver which will convert it into water and co2. It can only process 1/3 of an ounce of pure ethanol an hour.
