Document Summary

Control of hormone release: negative feedback mechanism. The outcome of the process feeds back to the system, shutting the process down. Most common way to maintain homeostatic levels of hormones or substances within the blood. Either the hormone is being regulated or the hormone itself is involved in the negative feedback to maintain other variables: positive feedback mechanism. The outcome of the process feeds back to the system and stimulates the process to continue. Process is making the imbalances even greater than it was. The maintenance of blood glucose is a double negative feedback which involves 2 hormones from the pancreas. We have to maintain a certain concentration of blood glucose at all time because it is the primary fuel for cellular respiration and the only one that the brain can use. If it becomes elevated the pancreas is going to release insulin (a protein hormone) into the bloodstream and it is going to act on different target tissues.
