Cancer: large group of disease characterized by the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. Neoplasm: new growth of tissue that serves no physiological function. Biopsy = microscopic examination of cell development. Metastasis: process by which malignant tumors that are not enclosed in a protective capsule spread to other organs. Mutant cells form after a disruption of r n a and d n a within normal cells, which may produce cells that differ in form, quality, and function from the normal cell. 0 - early cancer, when abnormal cells remain only in the place they originated. 1-3 - higher numbers indicate more extensive danger: larger tumor size and/or spread of cancer beyond the organ in which it first developed to nearby lymph nodes and/or organs adjacent to location of primary tumor.
