The ucr definition-forcible rape: rape by force. Carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will, not about age, has to do with the non-consensual nature: attempts to commit forcible rape. Ncvs: distinguishes between rape and sexual assaults, rape includes attempts, not limited to females, sexual assault, grabbing, touching, verbal threats. When and where: about 68% occur between 6pm and 6am, about 1/3 occur at or in victims home or someone"s home, not necessarily the victim"s house, only about 6% occur while at work. In more than 70% of cases, no weapon is used: weapons much more likely to be used by strangers. Individual offenders: often report sexual abuse in their own background, frequently are inadequate at maintaining relationships, anxiety and subsequent alcohol or drug abuse. Impossible to rape an unwilling woman: other theories, self-control, opportunity theory. Us"s perceived threat that the others will take their resources increases: strain, similar to group conflict theories.
