EDFD 220 Lecture 5: Notes 6/9
Document Summary
Dewey - learning is natural (like rosseau) but unlike rosseau it needs to be in a social setting. To an extent it is good but it can be bad. Silly games in school are the only reason students are interested. Dewey becoming relevant to economic environment of the united states. Teachers care how the students make them look, not if they learn. The 3 evils - by refining the subject so students can understand it they are losing their value. Human beings invented it by figuring it out what it means. Constructivism - for anything to be learned it has to be internalized as a cognitive process. Always a mixture but how much of each.
