Sympathetic adrenal-medullary system (sam: release of adrenaline and noradrenaline into the bloodstreams, immediate, quick response. (flight or fight) Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (hpa: slower to develop, prolonged stress response, stress activates the hpa axis. Tend and befriend: alternative to fight or flight, for females: associated with a hormone, oxytocin. Socioeconomic status (ses): involves your income, occupation, and education.
